Powers of Attorney

Powers of Attorney

Would you be able to manage your finance and health decisions if you lost your mental capacity? Probably not.
When will you lose your mental capacity? It is very difficult to predict when any of us may lose our mental capacity. It can happen suddenly and unpredictably following an accident or possibly a stroke. Or, sometimes in later life, following a deterioration in physical and mental health.
Why leave things until it’s too late? While you still have your mental capacity you can appoint trusted persons [possibly family members] to be your Attorneys. Those Attorneys will have legal authority under Lasting Powers of Attorney to make decisions regarding (i) your property and finance and (ii) your health and welfare.

What are we talking about? If you lost your mental capacity, would you be able to continue:
  • to operate a business?
  • to manage your bank account or investments (or would a “stop” be put on such accounts) making normal every day financial transactions difficult?
  • to make decisions about your health and welfare? What medical treatment you should receive. How you should be cared for?

What should you do? Contact Bluebell Advice and let us assist you in making Lasting Powers of Attorney.
