What is Probate?

Probate is an important legal process that ensures a person’s estate is properly managed and distributed after they pass away.
It involves gathering assets, settling debts and taxes, and making sure the remaining estate goes to the correct beneficiaries. Probate is often required to access bank accounts, transfer property, and handle other financial matters legally. The people entrusted to sort everything out are the executors and their main task, after arranging the funeral, is to obtain a Grant of Probate, if necessary.
If there is no will, closer family members will apply for Letters of Administration. Whether a Grant of Probate or Letters of Administration are necessary depends upon the value and type of assets left by the deceased. There is no fixed value that triggers the need for Probate. It depends on the nature of the assets and, if there are savings and investments, which organisations hold those assets.
Without the right guidance, it can be confusing and time-consuming. Bluebell Advice can help you navigate the process smoothly and efficiently, giving you peace of mind during a difficult time.

How much does Probate cost?

Unlike most other Probate providers, Bluebell Advice offers a fixed-fee basis for carrying out the work; so you know from the outset what the cost will be. The level of fee will depend upon the complexity of the estate which we will establish with you through a no obligation review of your circumstances — below is a guideline of our charges.
Simple Cases

Medium Complexity

Complex Cases

Sometimes simple estates can be dealt with without a Grant of Probate / Letters of Administration, in which case the cost may be lower than the above guidelines.
